Podhale Grupa Spiska z Jurgowa (Podhale Spisz Group from Jurgów) – ensemble promoting the folklore of the Polish part of the region of Spisz; it presents men’s pastoral dances, customs and unique Spisz costumes (Jurgów, Małopolskie Voivodeship, Spisz)

Dressed in authentic costumes, the ensemble from Jurgów performs the csardas, mazur, zbójnicki, polka and owięziok, and also recreates ancient customs such ‘Wkupowanie do parobków’, ‘Ogrywanie Mojek’ and ‘Spisz Wedding’.

It has received multiple awards, e.g. in Zakopane, Żywiec, Kraków and Kazimierz, and appeared throughout Europe, Africa and Asia.

The ensemble consists of an instrumental band, an educational section and the women’s vocal group ‘Młode Stare Baby’ (literally: young old hags), recipients of prizes at the foremost folk festivals.

It celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2023 and in 2024 presented an historic show titled ‘Spisz Wedding”.

Podhale Grupa Spiska z Jurgowa is one of the most vital and recognisable folk ensembles from Spisz, characterised by an expressive, prominent style and deeply rooted in the local tradition.
