Zespół Górali Czadeckich ‘Dawidenka’ (Czadca Highlander Ensemble ‘Dawidenka’)  – multigenerational group recreating the songs, dances and authentic costumes of the Czadca Highlanders relocated from Bukovina; ranked amongst the leading folk ensembles from Dolnośląskie Voivodeship (Gaworzyce, Dolnośląskie Voivodeship, Górale Czadeccy / Czadca Highlanders)

Zespół Górali Czadeckich ‘Dawidenka’ cultivates the traditions brought from the region of Bukovina in Romania. The name of the ensemble is derived from an early spring dance practised in the village of Dawidena (no longer existent), which was taken over by their ancestors from Tereblacz. That was from where they departed for Poland in 1945, eventually settling in Koźlice.

For decades, they hid their Bukovina identity, which now again resounds in the syrba, polka grożona and podbijanka danced in the local community centre with the same passion as it used to be danced in a big cottage back in the day.

They also proudly return to their ancient melodies and dishes – they sing recruits’ and wedding songs, and on their tables you will find the mamałyga, pszeniczka and pampuszki.

‘Dawidenka’ performs at festivals in Poland and abroad, recalling the turbulent history of the Czadca Highlanders and their culture, which – despite the passage of time and the change of location – remains vital and recognisable.
