Remigiusz Mazur‑Hanaj – musician, ethnographer, animateur and opinion journalist; he documents the folk music in its crude form; he has helped organise Domy Tańca (literally: dance houses), a co-author and co-editor of source ethnomusicological publications; he has been influential in restoring the hurdy gurdy tradition in Poland (Milanówek, Mazowieckie Voivodeship, Mazowsze / Mazovia)
He has co-created the Dom Tańca, organised dance parties, festivals, taborowe spotkania (literally: corral meetings) and sacred song workshops.
Since the 1990s, he has been conducting field trips and creating a publishing series titled In Crudo. As a hurdy gurdy player and promoter of traditional singing, he has been influential in restoring the art of playing the hurdy gurdy.
He has been an editor of the quarterly Wędrowiec, and has written for Brulion, Dwutygodnik and Konteksty. He has been a scriptwriter of ethnographic documentaries and a curator of multiple festivals. Since 2002, he has sat on the jury of the festival in Kazimierz, where he initiated the Klub Tyndyryndy – a space where the youth can learn to dance to the accompaniment of the folk bands.
In recognition of his activities, he has been awarded the Gold Cross of Merit (Złoty Krzyż Zasługi).
