Kapela Ochodzita – string band founded in 1995; it performs the repertoire of the Żywiec and Silesian Highlanders on traditional fiddle and bass instruments (Rajcza, Śląskie Voivodeship, Beskid Śląski/Żywiecki / Silesian/Żywiec Beskids)
The band comes from the border of the Silesian and Żywiec Beskids and borrowed its name from a mountain in Koniaków.
The musicians perform on fiddles and archaic instruments – with gajdy, bass and pastoral instruments, some of which produced by themselves.
The traditional repertoire is made up of obyrteks, owięzioks, walczyks, krakowiaks, polkas, carols, pastorales, Highlander bandit songs and baciary songs.
The members come from Trójwieś Beskidzka and Żywiecczyzna (Żywiec Land): Adam Soból, Marzena Suszka, Adam Puszyński, Piotr Puszyński and Czesław Węglarz.
Together they give concerts, conduct workshops, record for radio and television, and collaborate with museums and music schools and academies.
What sets them apart is their profound knowledge and understanding of the traditions, both from Żywiec and Silesia – which come together in their music in perfect harmony.
