Janina Boroś – ritual plastic artist specialising in engraved Easter eggs, Palm Sunday palms and paper cutouts; she also creates net curtains and Christmas tree decorations, and as a poet has been published in Twórczość Ludowa; she has brought out a volume of literary works titled Za wszystko dziękuję Ci Boże (For Everything I Thank You, God) (Krasnystaw, Lubelskie Voivodeship, Lubelszczyzna / Lublin Land)

She has been creating folk handicrafts since her youngest years. At first, she just observed her mother at work and then herself mastered the techniques of making paper cutouts, engraved Easter eggs, tissue paper flowers and paper net curtains with openwork, plant-depicting patterns.

She debuted in 1990 at the community centre in Krasnystaw, with which she still cooperates. Her works have been presented in such cities as Warsaw, Lublin and Chełm, and they also found their place in museum collections.

For more than two decades, she has also been published as a poem writer – she has brought out a volume titled Za wszystko dziękuję Ci Boże (For Everything I Thank You, God) and has taken part in writing contests.

She has actively run workshops for children and adolescents passing on her skills to the younger generations, including her own daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
